1) Chuck: Meh. It was okay. Sophomoric, but with potential. [livejournal.com profile] stonebender liked it a lot more than I did, and I think at least part of that is because it's got a guy's sensibility. I do like spy stuff in general, and I do think the guy who plays Chuck has some really charming moments, so I'll keep watching for a week or two and see how it goes.

2) Heroes: I am always disappointed when they up the stakes and then tell us they've fooled us, so if this weren't a comic book, I'd be really bummed. However, comics do this ALL the TIME, so Heroes is still totally awesome in my book, and utterly true to the comics spirit.

3) JourneyMan: I can tell I'm goign to be frustrated by this in the way The Fugitive and The Hulk frustrated me -- I just *know* it's never going to end and be resolved for our hero. However, I don't mind a certain amount of frustration in my viewing, and they even mitigated a lot of it by letting him meet a fellow traveler so he would have a tiny little bit of encouragement and guidance. Good show so far; I think I'm really going to like it. Plus, it's set in San Francisco, so it's fun to see which places I recognize. :-)

Too much new tv! I'm looking forward to Reaper tonight. I forgot about Journeyman, so I guess I'll just tape it, and wait for them to rerun the first ep.

On the other hand, maybe I should just tape all of the new shows and wait to see if the networks bail on them them before I get hooked.

Speaking of prematurely-canceled shows, did you happen to catch Wonderfalls? I loved that one.

Got to Heroes last night (DVR'ed it so I can skip commercials :D ) and have to admit, I'm as disappointed with the way its started as with the way it ended last season. The only character I'm really interested in, still, is Hiro. I've never been a big comic book fan and perhaps that is why I'm just not liking Heroes as much as others. I guess, for the potential it has there, there is so much more they could do with the story and they don't.

Journeyman.. Loving it. You mention the main character's own issues will never be resolved. That is what makes it appealing in many ways. He will always have that and be trying to fix it perhaps, but it will come down to "Do I go help these other people, or do I help myself?" Although, I have to admit, the first episode and the thing with the ring... nice touch. I have a friend who thinks Time Travel stories are bad because they are "too easy" to resolve issues. Perhaps, but while watching this show I kept thinking of the book Time Traveler's Wife. Excellent book, and you can see the influence of Time Traveler's Wife in it.
