20 years ago, I was 21 years and a few weeks old. On my 21st birthday, I got fake nails, wore my skirt backwards, and got harangued for not ordering alcohol at my party.
15 years ago, I was living in an intentional-community house with a bunch of Green Party members. We had managed to get the Green Party on the 1992 ballot. I was sleeping with a guy in the house, though I didn't want a relationship with him, and I was being secretive about it because I was ashamed. I had recently become an atheist, and I had recently metwtfpotatoes for the first time (she was born three thousand miles away, and I first met her in July, when she was six months old).
10 years ago, I was raisingwtfpotatoes and Munchkin The Elder. I was having the time of my life, but it was stressful dealing with their parent (my sibling). My mother and I were attending Codependents Anonymous, trying to deal with our homicidal and suicidal feelings around the situation. I found myself thinking lustful thoughts about a woman for the first time, letting me know I was no longer straight. I was just ending a four-year period of intentional celibacy, sleeping with another person I didn't have the guts to admit I was having sex with.
5 years ago, I was in a happy-if-often-difficult marriage with cute-poet-chick. We were discussing having a wedding ceremony, though we were as legally married as we were allowed to be at the time.
2 years ago, I was running a weekly spoken-word open mic. I was irritated about having lost a bunch of weight (I found it again). I was mourning my decision to give up the notion of ever bearing children.
1 year ago, I had injured my hand in a freak potluck accident.loracs threw me a lovely 40th-birthday party.
Yesterday, I spent the day withstonebender. Mostly, I cooked and we watched Dexter (5 episodes, I believe.)
Today, I exhibited championship level task-avoidance. I also visitedstonebender, made a pork roast on a bed of onions, walked to the grocery store, and bought caramels to make caramel apples with.
Tomorrow, I will visitstonebender once or twice, and the rest of the day I will work work work to meet a Monday-night deadline (self-imposed).
