Cute email from NaNoWriMo.org today:

Subject: An email from your imagination

We got this email today from your imagination. It was misaddressed to us, so we're sending it along to you. We hope it finds you well.

-----Original Message-----

Hello!

This is your imagination. I know work, school, and general craziness have been keeping us apart lately. But there's something we need to do together this November.

It's called National Novel Writing Month. For it, we'll bash out a 50,000-word novel, from scratch, in 30 days. You and me. Writing a book. Together.

I need you to sign us up. Because I don't have any arms.

http://www.NaNoWriMo.org

Love,

Your imagination

This email is being sent to you because you or someone who loves you put your email address in the "NaNoRemindMe" box of NaNoWriMo.org. This is the only email you will receive from us. Unless, of course, you sign up for National Novel Writing Month. Then you'll get dozens of great emails, including pep talks from Neil Gaiman, Julianna Baggott, Sue Grafton, Naomi Novik, Garth Nix, Deanna Raybourn, Tom Robbins, and Sara Gruen. All for free. We're a creative writing nonprofit. And we want you to write that book.

*gasp* I've changed emails since last year and forgot to let my imagination and NaNo know. I'm going to correct that problem pronto. Thank you for the head's up. :D

I wish my imagination were so well behaved. It tends just to thwap me across the back of the head at random intervals and say "Take this down."

Me, too, yay! I hereby challenge you to have at least 10,000 words written by the time we see each other on the 6th. If you do, I will have a special prize for you. If not, I get the prize. :-)

You win the prize! :-) My goal is 1500-2000 words a day but I do my writing at night so by the afternoon of the 6th I'll only have 8000 at most.

Okey-dokey, but I'll save the prize for you just in case you get a huge burst of inspiration. :-)

Totally Off Topic

I'm [livejournal.com profile] final_girl's roommate -- she's down with RSI right now -- she said you'd mentioned having an old copy of Dragon. If so, could you give her a holler? Thanks, Claud

Sure! Will do. I don't have her number, but I'm seeing [livejournal.com profile] stonebender tomorrow or the next day, when I will grab the old copy and either mail or otherwise deliver it to her. Also, [livejournal.com profile] stonebender says to tell her that the new version can be had on eBay for $35-$50 if she wants the newer version. (The newest version is 9, and he likes it a lot.)

Hurrah! I'll forward her your comment (she's peeking at them, sparingly, though not typing back). Thanks *so* much.
