Feeling very task-avoidy, so I'll do a survey, and then I'll get to work on NaNo and housework.

There were some dumb questions in there, so I truncated the two lists of survey questions I got from [livejournal.com profile] mactavish, and I stole some of her answers:

1. Have you ever been searched by the cops?
Nope.

2. Do you close your eyes on roller coaster?
It depends on how scary they are.

3. Would you rather sleep with someone else, or alone?
I like both about equally well. I find it hard to get to sleep when I'm alone in the house, but once I'm asleep, I sleep fine either way.

4. Do you believe in ghosts?
Nope.

5. Do you consider yourself creative?
In some realms, not others.

6. Do you think O.J. killed his wife?
Yes. I watched the trial from start to finish. I was addicted to CourtTV at the time. I also watched the entire Menendez trial.

7. Jennifer Aniston or Angelina Jolie?
Angelina.

8. Can you honestly say you know ANYTHING about politics?
Yes.

9. Do you know how to play poker?
I know the basics, but have no strong interest or skill.

10. Have you ever been awake for 48 hours straight?
Oh, sure.

11. Who was your first love?
TOTGA (The One That Got Away), unless you count the boy I had a crush on for a few years in my pre-adolescence.

12. If you're driving in the middle of the night, and no one is around you, do you run a red light?
I stop, wait. Is it stuck? If it seems hopelessly stuck, I don't wait for it, I treat it like a stop sign. If not, I wait.

13. Do you have a secret that no one knows but you?
Sure.

14. Boston Red Sox or New York Yankees?
I really really don't care. I like watching baseball games, but I don't follow baseball.

15. Have you ever been Ice Skating?
Yes. I was moderately sucky at it, but I was able to stay off my ass the majority of the time.

16. How often do you remember your dreams?
Rarely.

17. What's the one thing on your mind?
The fact that I'm procrastinating on both NaNo and housework, and there's an onerous task I have to do if I don't get NaNo done today.

18. Do you always wear your seat belt?
Yep.

19. What talent do you wish you had?
I wish I could play the piano really well.

20. Do you like Sushi?
I love it SO much.

21. What do you wear to bed?
Nothing.

22. Do you truly hate anyone?
Not any more. I have spent most of my life really hating a member of my family of origin, but through a combination of finding compassion and not having the energy for hate, I don't any more.

23. If you could sleep with one famous person, who would it be?
My partners are famous enough for me.

24. Do you know anyone in jail?
Not right now.

25. What food do you find disgusting?
Brains.

26. Have you ever made fun of your friends behind their backs?
Yes.

27. Have you ever been punched in the face?
Not that I can think of, unless accidental flailing counts.

28. Do you believe in angels and demons?
Nope.

29. What is a question that people ask you that always gets on your nerves?
It used to be "So, who's the man?" I can't think of one these days.

30. Name something you have in common with all your siblings?
Brown eyes.

31. What is the greatest amount of physical pain you have ever had?
Spinal tap. Oh, man.

32. What number of drinks constitutes your limit?
I don't know. I've never been drunk, and I've rarely drunk more than a sip of alcohol at a time.

33. Do you fold your underwear?
No, I stuff it in a drawer with socks and gloves.

34. Who is the last person you wrote a letter to on paper?
Probably my semi-niblings.

35. Have you fired a gun before?
Yes. I was in JROTC.

36. Name someone you consider a genius.
My dad, my partners, my brother, many of my friends. It just works out that way.

37. What was your favorite childhood toy?
Shape-O ball.

38. Name a sound that disturbs you.
A baby's cry, if I can't ascertain whether or not something's really wrong or the child's being attended to.

39. Name a person who's diary you would love to read.
[livejournal.com profile] someotherguy's, if he wrote about the internal workings of his mind more. I can't always get in there, I'm not sure anyone can.

40. Have you ever had the same dream more than once?
Yes, or similar enough.

41. Name something that bothers you about people.
Intentional, long-term head-in-sand.

42. Name something that made you laugh today.
I laugh so much when I'm around [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy that I can't even remember what from.

43. What is on your refrigerator door?
two sets of Jesus dress-up magnets -- one regular, one christmas, a timer, a grocery list, and a postcard we got recently (either from [livejournal.com profile] lcohen or [livejournal.com profile] kevinkjr; I can see it well enough from here to tell. Oh, and a sticker that says "eat something".

44. What CD is currently in your CD player?
Sarah Harmer, "You Were Here"

45. Do you prefer regular or chocolate milk?
I love chocolate milk, but I rarely drink it.

46. Has anyone told you a secret this week?
Probably.

47. What is your favorite line from a movie?
"But they're *nice* hips."

48. Do you think people talk about you behind your back?
I hope so.

49. What movie do you know every line to?
None, but I'm pretty close on Grease, Bull Durham, and Princess Bride.

50. Are you wanting any tattoos and piercings?
There are a few tattoos I want, but I don't know if I'll ever get them.

51. Would you ever date anyone covered in tattoos?
I don't care either way about tattoos.

52. Do you get along better with the same sex or the opposite?
Depends on the person, completely.

53. Who was the last person to make you mad?
Mad insane: my sibling. Mad angry: Secret Agent Man.

54. Name one place you would rather be?
There is literally no place I'd rather be than here.

For 29, my first thought was, "Wait, there's only one?" and then I realized, "Oh, I get it now." *back to reading*

I finally screwed up my courage and took a taste of someone's brain fry, and it was pretty damn good, and I still can't bring myself to order some, ever.

I would probably try it -- I'm pretty adventurous about food. I'd probably try bugs and blood sausage and other things I'm grossed out about, too.

I ate snake and horse when I was a child, and they were pretty good. In adulthood, I've eaten some things people find gross -- frogs' legs, shrimp heads, etc.

What's the grossest thing you've ever eaten? Was it the brains?

pretty much, yes. i've eaten grilled goat testicles, which some people might find gross, but i didn't really. blue cheese likewise. i've tried shrimp heads, grilled crispy, but they still squick me a little. i'd probably try horse, but donkey would gross me out (apparently they're both quite popular in parts of europe). i know some of my friends found baby squid gross, but i loved it. one man's meat, more or less.

actually the thing that i used to love as a kid but the mere thought of which grosses me out now is ribena (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ribena) diluted with milk rather than water.

(but yes, brains still gross me out on a visceral level despite my having tried and enjoyed them. squick reactions are strange things)

In spite of having read Serene's whole list, I still had to read this twice before I realized "brain fry" isn't an idiom or metaphor here.

I've eaten deep-fried sheep testicles -- I spent part of my life on a very old-fashioned sheep farm, you don't want me to tell you how they were castrated -- but still, goat? Not quite as bad as horse or cat or dog, but still, I really love goats.

For me, the body part is less bothersome than the animal it comes from.
