Dec. 4th, 2007 09:40 amI told my mother she's not allowed to join our club, but she didn't listen. (The club where everyone in my family has been in the hospital in the past year.)
Yesterday, she had a scope procedure that apparently made her stomach bleed. Last night, she fell and was unable to get up, and then she vomited blood. They think the injury from the procedure filled her stomach with blood. My sister, who is actually good in a crisis, called an ambulance and got mom to the hospital, where they stabilized her, gave her two pints of blood (and some insulin to counteract the high sugars in the donated blood), and they're gonna do another scope today to see if they need to cauterize a blood vessel or something. They think she might have had an ulcer on a blood vessel (she's under treatment for ulcers, and that was what the original procedure was looking at).
Yesterday, she sounded drugged from the weakness. Today, she sounds like herself. You can imagine my relief. They're coming in a half hour or so to take her in to get looked at. I'm hoping it's what they think it is and not something more serious.
