Permanent absentee. I voted the day after I got my ballot.

And I'm not doing the Valentinr thing, so let me take this opportunity to tell you I love you!

Love you, too, sweetie.

And I'm way too into the whole walking-to-the-poll thing to do absentee, but yay, we voted!

As soon as there's a Democratic candidate, this charter member of the Green Party is calling up her/his office and seeing what she can do to help get her/him elected.

I am *always* out of town during an election (and today was spent in Burbank), so I *must* do the absentee thing in order to make sure I can vote.

And I'm with you. I'll work for a Democratic nominee.

I did! I signed up for vote-by-mail when the county asked me to, but then I was cranky at having to pay for my own stamps (not because I would not happily give the government an extra 59 cents in general, but because the idea of VOTING costing money really freaks me out), so I dropped my ballot off at the polls before I headed to the airport this morning. I got a sticker for it, too. :-)

Yay!

And thanks again for the other day. It was very sweet.

I just about always do, and today was no exception. But I forgot to get a sticker. :-(

Heh, the poll worker who helped put my ballot in the scanner said, "You look so cute with your hair and those socks ... here, I'll put this right in the middle", as she applied the sticker a couple inches below the neck/collar of my t-shirt.

Yup. We three walked to the polls. S. didn't vote, but he got a sticker anyhow. :)

Oregon's primary is one of the very last to be held, but tonight I sat in a neighborhood pub pretty much full of Democrats come out to talk and watch the SuperDuper results.

There were fresh faced college kids and local pols and all manner of folks. The place was buzzing with conversation despite the facts everyone's eyes kept drifting to the TVs.

It felt... good. Okay, it felt really good.

And it hit me, I'm fifty two years old and I'm sitting in a room full of energized enthusiastic voters and the two front runners for the party's nomination are a woman and a black man. And voter turnout was apparently high just about everywhere. It felt really really good.

Then they called Alabama- Alabama, people- for Obama. And I just shut my eyes and let myself feel it. I'm old enough to remember when JFK's run was a big honking deal with people concerned about the fact he was Roman Catholic. It was a matter of considerable and spirited discussion among my parents' friends.

All told, tonight didn't suck.

Oh, wow. I *hear* you. It's been quite a while since I felt *excited* about an election.

Not yet. (-:

We're fourth from last. I hope there are still choices by then.

I also dropped off my absentee ballot at my local polling place, and I wore my sticker proudly all day long!

I really wish they hadn't called the California primary results with 13% of precincts reporting, but otherwise I enjoyed watching the returns come in for a little while last night.

Yeppers, even though I had to take my kitty to the vet because he kept trying to pee and seemingly was not successful (this can be life-threatening and the vet's office said bring him in NOW. With all that happening, I still didn't forget to stop by the polling place before heading off to work!

I haven't tuned into the news today, who got California? (Democrat, that is.)

What about the propositions? I guess I should go off to the League of Women Voters site to find out.

Kitty is OK, btw...
