Date: 2008-02-06 07:16 am (UTC)And I'm way too into the whole walking-to-the-poll thing to do absentee, but yay, we voted!
As soon as there's a Democratic candidate, this charter member of the Green Party is calling up her/his office and seeing what she can do to help get her/him elected.

Date: 2008-02-06 08:28 am (UTC)There were fresh faced college kids and local pols and all manner of folks. The place was buzzing with conversation despite the facts everyone's eyes kept drifting to the TVs.
It felt... good. Okay, it felt really good.
And it hit me, I'm fifty two years old and I'm sitting in a room full of energized enthusiastic voters and the two front runners for the party's nomination are a woman and a black man. And voter turnout was apparently high just about everywhere. It felt really really good.
Then they called Alabama- Alabama, people- for Obama. And I just shut my eyes and let myself feel it. I'm old enough to remember when JFK's run was a big honking deal with people concerned about the fact he was Roman Catholic. It was a matter of considerable and spirited discussion among my parents' friends.
All told, tonight didn't suck.

Date: 2008-02-06 04:06 pm (UTC)I really wish they hadn't called the California primary results with 13% of precincts reporting, but otherwise I enjoyed watching the returns come in for a little while last night.

Date: 2008-02-06 08:26 pm (UTC)I haven't tuned into the news today, who got California? (Democrat, that is.)
What about the propositions? I guess I should go off to the League of Women Voters site to find out.
Kitty is OK, btw...
