I will never forgive Disney for eliminating the Villain Store at Disneyland. That they have now replaced it with the Princess Store is just salt in the wound...
James's niece was quite disturbed when I told her how much I love Maleficent. "No, you're not supposed to love the bad guy. Love the *princess* and the *prince*. Love THEM."
Yeah, I love it. You and I are probably near the same age, if we both imprinted on that movie. :-)
But Maleficent, even when I was young enough to be frightened of her, has always fascinated me. I used to have nightmares that featured her changing into the dragon. Chilling, but so *compelling*.
The Evil Queen from Snow White isn't. Cinderella's step-relatives aren't.
She's also far more sympathetic. She's just trying to get a polite invitation! But everyone keeps excluding her. All the other villains are out for some selfish goal; Maleficent just wants to be accepted as part of the group.
