I would like to hear more about point 1, if either or both of you would like to expand on it.

What I mean by it is that I automatically (based on cuture-of-origin stuff that I haven't worked to undo the influence of) tend to keep stuff about my life and the lives of people I know private unless I consciously decide to talk about it, and I've understood Serene to say that keeping stuff private is work. One could call my way "self-censoring" or "being in the closet" and her way "being out and open" but those have baggage I didn't intend.
