Eighteen days. That's how long it took me to feel completely deprived and cranky, and decide that when my family eats tuna casserole twenty minutes from now, I'm having some, too.

Just sayin'.

(This is not to say the experiment goes out the window now, just that 100% compliance to any imposed food rules just isn't gonna work for me.)

No 100% compliance to food rules for you, no 100% off antidepressants for me. Yay to both of us for listening to our bodies.

Understandable. Sorry you felt deprived and cranky.

From personal experience, I know it can get depressing thinking about/measuring everything and abstaining from something you really want to eat. I was gestational diabetic when I was pregnant with DS#1 (and I have an very very strong family history of type 2 diabetes otherwise, so there's a good chance I will get it at some point).

Hang in there.

Heh, I started a better health program this weekend. Apparently my subconscious felt threatened, because I then proceeded to eat constantly on Monday and Tuesday--both every spoonful of the healthy and delicious food I made and brought to work, plus all the snacks (crackers, candy) spread around the office and in my desk. Recognizing it helped, and I'm doing cognitive therapy stuff today.

Yeah. I haven't really been having any trouble sticking to the eating plan, but now and then I get really cranky -- I snapped at James, which I *never* do -- and I'm certain it's because with what I'm eating, I go from fine to OHMIGODSTARVING in a matter of seconds.

It was yummy. :-) And I didn't get TOO sick from it, because I took a couple milk pills, but my heart did that thing pretty strongly after dinner.
