From the [livejournal.com profile] altfriday5:

1. What do/don't you eat?

I don't eat veal. I will eat almost anything else, though there are lots of foods and food combinations I don't like. When I had an eating disorder, I was actually unaware that there were foods I disliked, so I am amused and delighted at how many strong opinions I have about food now that the eating disorder is ancient history.

2. Why do you make the food choices you do?

That is a complicated question, with many answers. Some possible answers: Because if I did things differently, it would make me crazy. Because my food choices give me joy. Because I live in California and have the privilege of choosing fresh veggies year-round. Etc.

3. Are you happy with your relationship to food?

Usually, very much so. Now and then, not so much.

4. What are your favorite comfort foods?

Creamy things. Cheese sauces and the like. Thai takeout. My mother's cooking. Soup.

5. Are there any foods you want to try but haven't had a chance, yet?

Sure! Goat, Kobe beef, all the tropical fruits before they've been shipped halfway around the world, crawfish etouffee, others I can't think of right now.

The Questioner says: Don't forget your links!

Goat's one of those things that I can't imagine eating. As much as I've raised lambs and still eat it sometimes, raised calves and still eat beef sometimes, I just adore goats in the same way I love dogs and horses -- and can't imagine it.

I want to go to India just to eat mangoes.

I have some goat curry in the fridge right now, made from scratch, waiting to be reheated tomorrow after the flavours blend :-).

(The goat's from a local chap who raises them as well as lamb/sheep.)

Crawfish etouffee, yum. It's probably been a year since I had it. :(

When I was a teenager, I rescued a crawfish that got trapped in my parents' back ditch after a flood....many years before I ever thought of eating them.
