Rules:

1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me" or something of an equally pithy nature.
2. I will respond by asking you 5 questions of a very personal nature. Be warned!
3. You will update your LJ with the answers to the questions, or there will be trouble.
4. You will include this and an offer to interview someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them 5 questions.

I will promise questions to the first 5 people; after that, it will depend on my interest/energy/etc.

My answers to [livejournal.com profile] semy_of_pearls:

1) Your default icon is you resting your head in your hands. The look on your face suggests... Frustration? Where was the photo taken and what were you thinking about?

Fascination. I was paying close attention to the speaker, who I believe was my partner [livejournal.com profile] stonebender. We were at a convention he was chairing. [livejournal.com profile] lcohen took the picture, which is my favorite photo of me ever.

2) List the music that you cannot be without (bands, individual songs, genres, any way you would like to define it.)

I almost did my standard "Well, I could live without them..." literal-girl-type answer, but I think I would cry without folk-rock singer-songwriters, like Shawn Colvin and Richard Shindell and Emily Saliers and John Gorka and Mary Chapin Carpenter and people like that.

3) Which would you prefer: walking or bicycling?

Hmm. Walking, I guess, but only because I'm afraid of the drivers where I live. I do like riding a bike.

4) Have you ever been so mad at someone that your normal filter didn't work?

Hmmm. No, I guess not, because my normal filter allows for saying things like, "you're being a total asshole," but it just so rarely comes up.

5) Your health is improving (yay!) but if it wasn't, would you try to do one crazy thing before your health prevented it, and what would that be?

Heh. This is pretty far outside the way I think, actually. I can't really wrap my brain around it. If, though, I have to think of something I really like doing that I wouldn't be able to do if I had a severe disability, I can come up with a huge long list.

Oh, I'm totally late (officially #10). That's what I get for logging off of my computer and actually going out for a real-life dinner with real-life friends (to belatedly celebrate my birthday). Well, I can't imagine you'll get to me, but if you do, I'd welcome it! None of my other friends have posted this meme.

Heh. Cute.

1) Tell about a book you loved with a passion when you were a young child.

2) What do you think you will be doing for a living in ten years? I mean, I think I know the general field, but give as much detail as you can.

3) Clowns, or jugglers?

4) Tell about a friend you've had most of your life.

5) What do you think is the most important thing for the people in your country to understand about the political process?

1) You get a meeting with someone important (alive today, you define "important"), and it's going to be something where you're both committed to sitting down with compassion and openmindedness. Who do you want it to be?

2) Tell about a fictional character who changed the way you looked at something.

3) Drive-in or multiplex?

4) It's the last month of your life, and you know it. Never mind what you'll do or who you'll see. What will you read?

5) Tell about a fortunate circumstance that brought you to where you are today.

You're one of the few people whose questions I'd want to answer, too. Well, if you have but world enough and time, ask me...

3) How can you mend a broken heart?

4) What do you sing to yourself when you're all alone?

5) What's your favorite meal to cook? Not to eat, to cook.

I'm going to answer the first one, even though it wasn't asked of me.

I remember watching the TV news when the Berlin Wall was coming down, with tears running down my cheeks and being literally speechless with joy. A whole new world opened up for millions and millions of people that day. Thousands saw family members for the first time in decades. How could that not be ecstatic?

I hope you don't mind me adding to this. I cried when I watched too. I still tear up when I think about it. My mother escaped from East Germany in 1949 when she was about 13 years old. Her mother had spent quite a bit of time figuring out how she would get across with 5 children. She (my Oma)was captured twice by the Russians as she was re-entering East Germany...but she had an infant with her one time and the second time she acted insane and they let her go.
