1. Lived on a Navy base in Spain
2. Taken voice lessons from someone who sang with Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians
3. Gotten special permission from Jerry Brown (then-Governor of California) to take driver's ed class

I've almost done that. I lived in military housing(but off base) in Germany.

Can't top those, but now you've got me curious. Care to unpack number 3 a bit?

Sure. When I was in high school, one had to be 15 1/2 years old at the start of the semester in which one took driver's ed. Most people ended up taking it in the 10th grade. When I started my last semester of high school, I wasn't yet 15 1/2 -- I was 15 and 3 months or so -- so I had to get special permission from the governor to take driver's ed, or I would either be held back, or graduate without driver's ed, or something.
