Yep, life is short. And people can be total self-involved hateful assholes.

And this is the only life we get.

I hope things get better for you soon, and I hope that you are able to shift your life to a place where you're surrounding yourself with people who build you up instead of tearing you down.

I've spent a fair amount of time feeling lonely and isolated, and found the best thing was to go do something useful with other people. And learn to chat with strangers. Because we're all cousins, really.

I'm not particularly lonely or isolated (or having to deal with some particular asshole) - not any more than normal, anyway - but I would like to learn to chat with strangers. Took that "strangers are not to be trusted" thing as a kid very seriously, and haven't gotten over it 40 years later. That we're all cousins is an interesting take; perhaps that will help.

I did chat quite a bit with a total stranger on Saturday. Mostly due to the fact that she was quite, quite willing to chat with me, rather than any skills on my part. It was fun, though. Perhaps I'll run in to her again, some time.
