Call for Proposals
ABSTRACTS DUE: July 31st, 2010
The Association of Black Women in Higher Education (ABWHE) is soliciting
abstracts and panel submissions for the 2010 national conference to be held
in Los Angeles, CA from October 13th - 15th, 2010.
Topics of Interest
Abstracts and panel submissions reflecting inter-disciplinary approaches to
examining the experiences of African American women in the academy utilizing
evidence-based research and intervention guided-research reflecting new and
innovative information. Topics include but are not limited to:
* Career Development (i.e., mentoring and grant writing)
* Health and Wellness (i.e., mind, body and spirit)
* Historical Impact of African American Women in Academia
* Social Identity: Race, Gender and Sexual Orientation
* Increasing Diversity in Academia
* Leadership in Academia
All abstracts and panel submissions will be peer-reviewed, evaluated for
originality, quality, topic applicability, and relation to ABWHE 2010 theme.
Students are especially encouraged to submit abstracts for poster
presentation. Two student finalists will receive awards for their poster
presentations. To be eligible for the ABWHE Student Achievement Awards, the
student(s) submitting the abstract online must be the first and presenting
author on the contributed abstract. The student awards will be determined on
the basis of their presentation, style and knowledge of the subject matter.
Winners must be members of ABWHE or become members at the time of the
conference.

* Abstract/Panel submission deadline: July 31, 2010
* Abstracts/Panels must be submitted online at www.abwhe.org

* Panel submissions must contain individual abstracts (250 words or
less) from each participant
* Abstracts/Panel submissions should follow the format: Contact
