Too many people have cancer. Too many people live in war zones. Too many people don't know where the rent is coming from. It can get oppressive, even to a naturally cheerful person such as yours truly.
So tell me your joy, please! Big joys, little joys -- got any to share?
(If you haven't any, please share mine -- lamb stew on the stove; family around me; no cancer; and just a few weeks away from my first two-paycheck month in a long time. Oh, and one of my favorite unknown musicians just had one of her songs selected as the NPR song of the day. Pretty cool.)

Date: 2008-08-12 03:20 am (UTC)Yeah, okay. It's a weird joy.
How about this one: I just shaved my legs, and I love the feel of my own legs when they're all naked and silky with lemon/olive oil. And I smell good!

Date: 2008-08-12 03:43 am (UTC)And I have a fan, and the electricity to run it. And I live in my favorite place in the world, but can visit other places almost anytime I want. Like going up to Seattle to help my sister's girlfriend pick out furniture for their new home. On the train, which I love.

Date: 2008-08-12 04:57 am (UTC)My husband and I have mostly finished cleaning our room.. getting rid of piles and piles of stuff, having a bedroom I actually want to be in.
I have found a hobby that centers and quiets me. Something that I look forward to all week long, with a person I never thought would be my friend.. and I am discovering that I like her quite a bit. I've also gained courage to buy my own supplies, to do it when I'm not at her house (That part is still under construction).
I am proud of myself, and I love my body again. I'm feeling sexy, and not seeing -fat- when I look in the mirror, I'm seeing -sexy lady-. Becoming proud of my curves, and not feeling kind of traitorous when I work out or decide not to eat something I don't need to is a hard balance, but I think I'm getting there.
We're going on vacation! VACATION. Needed. Scraped, saved, wished, hoped for... now coming to fruition.
I have a husband and an S.O., and it's going very very well.
My son is changing for the better, and starting to communicate.

My son perfomance arting itsy bitsy spider like William Shatner singing Rocket Man.
Picking out silly baby things.
Yes!
Date: 2008-08-12 01:53 pm (UTC)We ate tons of delicious food.
We bought loads of recycled silk sari yarn in *glorious* colors at Frabjous/The Wool Peddler (http://www.recycledsilk.com/patterns.html), where Patchworkkitten works (made her day; made our day).
We knitted. I'm knitting a scarf using a complex chaotic many-many colored silk yarn combined with two strands of black. We were accused of turning BoNBoink into KnittingBoink. This is a good thing.
Larger scale, my life is fantastic. I'm having a summer "off" before school starts, and spending my time fixing up the house & yard, catching up on a gazillion things, and volunteering for six or so boards and whatevers having to do with fire & rescue.
I have marvelous friends. Patchworkkitten and another friend are moving in in September. We plan to have long 'girltalks,' accompanied by our knitting and a lazy cat, in front of the wood stove during the winter months.
Oh, and the ducks are very cute, even if they crap on the front doorstep while waiting for me to come out and spoil them with extra food each morning. They waddle, quack, fly, and run to greet me whenever I go outside.
There are probably a lot of other wonderful things I could mention. Life is pretty amazing. I am so very fortunate.

Date: 2008-08-12 06:43 pm (UTC)looking again at yesterday's dragonfly picture and thinking how much this project has done for making me feel small bits of joy every day, no matter how much other things might suck. i felt those before starting to post a picture every day, but now i am more conscious of it, and actively seek it out.
