A friend of mine, who is one of the best people in the world, is about to adopt a baby. I'm so happy for her I could cry. Yeah, that's why I'm crying. Let's go with that.

Hee! Yes, and at this point, I don't actually *want* a baby, exactly, but I still long for one, especially when I've got my period. :-)

I, on the other hand, both long and want one, although realistically now is not the time. I'm barely solvent enough to support myself, financially I can't handle it.

Oh, if we're just talking about desire, I want one and always have. But for me, "really want" has to involve feeling ready and able to do it. Does that make sense?
