Goodbye, Livejournal (sort of)

This is the last post I'll be cross-posting to LJ. One too many security snafus there. I'll be keeping my LJ account for commenting purposes, and continuing to read my LJ friendslist. Also, I won't be opting into anything that connects my LJ with other social media sites, but I can't guarantee LJ won't do it for me.

Hi - I'm not really here, yet. I created an account last month or so, just so that I'd be able to a) grab my username and b) use it to post to people who have DW-only journals. I may migrate; I haven't decided yet. (The last round of idiocy at LJ has me seriously considering it, but I'm subbed to a *lot* of communities.)

Thanks for letting me know. I'm going to have to start remembering to check in over here, you're not the only one who has done this in recent days.

(FWIW, another friend had the solution of continuing to xpost to LJ and completely disabling the ability to comment there. I don't know if that would be an option you would care to consider or not, but thought it was worth bringing up.)

I've been posting to DW and checking the crosspost button...but I'm not sure I want to any longer. I'd definitely lose readers, and I have a filter over there for my menopause stuff that I only post to LJ.

I am more likely to just disable comments on my LJ than stop using it.

What's the latest security issue with LJ? Not that I post much over there that's a worry, but I am a little more personal there than, say, facebook or even usenet. But it'd be good to know what I'm revealing to which part of the world.

I read both LJ and DW - DW first - so I'm pleased I won't miss any of your posts :) The food is so tempting.... I think I might need to make some spaghetti sauce.
