If I had had a really true concept of just how freakin' far haleth lives from me, I might have tried to dissuade her from coming over tonight, but I'm sort of glad I didn't. She's great, as are her kids, and I had a lot of fun meeting them -- and eating, playing games, etc.

My birthday week has been a flurry of social activity, and so far, though I'm a bit wiped out, I'm having a blast. Thanks to everyone who's been such a sport and made me feel all cared about and stuff.

We're home! Ok, been for a few hours, it's not that long a drive. :-) Thank you for a lovely evening and dinner and being awesome with my kids and introducing me to (part of) your family - they're cool.

Wow, that's way farther than when we learned that San Jose is not on the way to Napa! :)
