1) I forgot to mention what the road trip is about. My mom is having another surgery. We ([livejournal.com profile] someotherguy and I) are heading down to San Diego in a few minutes, and we'll be back late Sunday night. Then I'll head back down when they let her out of the hospital. Busy, busy.

2) My face at rest is slightly sad, so that people occasionally ask me if I'm okay when I'm just hanging out. Lately, though, I'm often listening to my NPR podcasts (or Counting Crows and BLOF) and I keep being told how happy I look. :-)

3) [livejournal.com profile] stonebender/[livejournal.com profile] loracs/[livejournal.com profile] dbubley's new puppy is SO SO CUTE!

I hear you on the saddish face at rest thing. I'm naturally pouty faced!

Yep, my mouth turns down when my face is in repose. I don't look sad; I look sort of mad :).

I hope everything goes well with your mom.

My brother has told me when I am not smiling I sometimes look like I could bite through a ten penny nail.
Safe journey

In case you need to let off stress. (Okay, I'm not sure that I can picture you getting into this, but since you're going to San Diego and I just heard of this being in San Diego, I had to pass on the link.) (http://www.smashshack.com/)

I hope the surgery goes really well.

I actually try to practice a slight smile when at rest. I'm not doing so well with it lately, but it's something I want to cultivate. I think it might help me seem more approachable.

I also have the same thing with my face at rest... people think I'm sad. And when I'm concentrating or focusing people think I'm mad. *shrugs* I've gotten used to people asking me if I'm okay.

The hard part is when people react to me like I'm mad and I'm really not. It's a bit more difficult to explain when people are instantly defensive.

I saw your post about your mom tonight and flipped back to see what happened. I hope she is on the mend soon.

My face does the same thing, and I'm sick and tired of the guy (BiteMe-Larry) who always says, "Smile! It can't be that bad.") I finally told him that it is a family trait for gravity to have its way with the women, and the labial folds (in my FACE, out of the gutter people!) are prominent and I'm a bit sensitive about it, so he could knock it off any time now! He hasn't said anything in a while.

Party on.
