I think I would have said that they're creepy and fabulous and creepy. But that's me.

suprised she hasn't been shut down. what she's doing is completely legal, of course, she buys the dolls and you are allowed to do what you want w/ what you buy, but matel always tries to sue out of existence anyone who resells their dolls in any alternate form, and though they have no standing, they have the lawyers to crush all small businesses, independent artists, etc.

I think I liked them better when I thought she made the body parts herself from molds. that they are barbies takes some away from the creativity somehow, and what about all the body parts that she does not use?

and I liked the mixed media the best, with metal and some sort of colored parts.

I just, I just.

I'll just be over here, mopping up the brain that leaked out of my ears and onto the floor.

And I'm with [livejournal.com profile] bcholmes. They're creepy first, but I think almost all dolls and doll-related objects are kind of creepy.

I think they're wonderful. I've got a story in my head about where the artist is going with all this. The Barbies in their packages on the store shelves do violence to my sense of reality. Looking at these pieces feels like healing from that violence.

Strangely, it reminds me of level two in World Of Goo: Little Miss Goo. There's a narrative there about the atomic unit of beauty, similar to the one in these pieces.

Thank you for linking this, I'm getting some fresh ideas now...
