I like this one
Jan. 18th, 2009 10:13 pmA "share random facts about yourself" meme is going around Facebook and
firecat dragged it to LJ. I like it better than the Q&A memes -- I found out some really cool things about
firecat that I didn't know before, and I've known her for a decade or more.
"You've been tagged. Now write a note with 25 random facts, habits, goals or some secret about you. Once you're done, choose 25 people to be tagged. You must also tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I'd like to know more about you or would like you to know more about me. If you'd rather not complete the tag, that's okay; no pressure."
1. I was SO in love with Scott Baio when I was 12 and 13.
2. I kinda halfway like the feeling of charley horses.
3. Reading about math is a total joy to me.
4. For a few years in my teens, I spent hours a day daydreaming about changing my past, usually about starting 9th grade over with what I knew then.
5. The first time I fell in love, I was 31 years old. The first time I fell in love with someone I actually knew in person, I was almost 33.
6. I ran away from home when I was 13. I fell asleep in the park, and a girl woke me and took me home. Her mother called my mother, and I went home, where the police were waiting.
7. I wonder sometimes if I should've been more reckless in my youth -- tried drugs, sex, etc. -- but even now, the thought makes me anxious.
8. My parents never fought once that I was aware of. They separated for a year when I was seven, but they told us he was out to sea.
9. I cried this afternoon when Garth Brooks sang "We Shall Be Free".
10. Listening to instrumental music ranges from boring to intolerable to me.
11. I miss TOTGA and cute-poet-chick every day, even though I know I'm happier now.
12. I think sometimes about throwing it all away (careerwise) and returning to journalism.
13. I wish I were a better singer.
14. I used to sit for hours just listening to the same album over and over. I kind of miss that.
15. I don't need people around to be happy. I do, however, need to know they're out there caring about me.
16. Frankie Avalon is my mother's cousin.
17. The baby I'm never going to have was going to be named Faith Elizabeth.
18. I was a member of Feminists for Life at one time.
19. I was so scared after seeing the movie "It's Alive" that I used to walk home down the middle of the street so the monster wouldn't come out of the bushes to kill me.
20. I miss college SO. Much.
21. I'd rather eat shellfish than just about anything else.
22. Creative writing is a difficult, almost painful process for me, but when I get a result I like, I can't think of anything I find more satisfying.
23. I don't get stage fright; I get stage TERROR.
24. I like most children more than I like most adults.
25. I don't tend to talk in my sleep, but I do laugh.
Bonus: I don't like tagging people, but I would like to know each one of you better and would be happy if you filled out one of these lists. (And if you added the link to it as a comment here so I could be sure to see it.)

Date: 2009-01-19 07:03 am (UTC)Robyn Tyler (another queer Canadian who, like me, somehow ended up in California) once quipped that Frankie Avalon "has the personality of a snail on Valium."
Now that I imagine you might have met the man, I'm suddenly curious to know if his movie personality (or lack thereof) caries over to his real person. I don't suppose you can comment on that? 8-)
