Here are the text posts I sent last night, that didn't post:

5:25pm: Doing fine. Spending the night after all. Verrry sleepy of course. Not in pain except where I bit my lip. :-)

12:55am: Doc came by around 8. Said it looks like cancer, but my prognosis is still excellent. I'll have to do the radioactive iodine thing, which idon'wanna but I will.

I'm home now, sitting on my recliner, reading usenet and LJ, and drinking some soup that [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy fixed me. Life doesn't suck.

I'm glad the prognosis is excellent, [livejournal.com profile] thyroid can be a good resource, and yeah, the radiation part can be sucky, I've heard, as is having to go off meds for awhile every so often later, to do a checkup -- but it beats active cancer.

Glad you are home. I am sorry it looks like cancer, but I am so glad the prognosis is excellent.

As [livejournal.com profile] kjpepper said in response to my news, "Well, shitcocks." Best of luck with the treatment.

*hugs* Glad you're home, and I'm glad about the prognosis (although not terribly happy with the diagnosis - grrrr).

Love you.

Love you, too. And once I stopped puking, it's really been an easy road compared to what my family members have been through this year, so I'm having a fairly easy time keeping it in perspective.

About an hour before I was moved into room 829, they moved [livejournal.com profile] dbubley out of room 823 to take her to the nursing facility. Our family totally ROOLED the 8th floor this week. ;-)

I'm glad you take care of yourself. I guess later you can list the obliterated cancer cells as decluttering.

I'm so, so sorry that it's probably cancer, but if you've got to have cancer, it sounds like a bearable kind.

hugs, kisses, and now that's over.

when does the radioactive stuff happen?

In a couple months. I was just showing [livejournal.com profile] sogwife the page about it, and if you're interested, here it is: http://thyca.org/rai.htm#after (Mostly, we were talking about the section that says "What do I do at home?")

thanks for the link. the precautions are intense, but temporary.

do you know if you will stay over at the hospital at all, or just go right home?

and how many times will you have to get the treatment?

and am I asking too many questions too soon?

My endo said my dose will be relatively low, she thinks, so I might go home after 24 hours, or possibly sooner. It will depend on how radioactive I am. It's a one-time treatment, but a year or two later, they might do a "scan" (as opposed to "treatment"), which is a lower-dose repeat (with an isotope that degrades faster), just to see if I have any thyroid tissue left. They can also use blood tests to see that.

So basically, it seems like it will be annoying, but not something I can't handle. And no, not too many questions. Thanks for caring.
