Good stuff:
  • took the day off from work, with their blessings, and mostly rested
  • took a nice, slow walk in the rain with [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy
  • read some of The Audacity of Hope
  • ate a bit more than I'm actually in the mood for, but it was tasty
  • remembered to take all my meds at the right times

Bad stuff:
  • they chipped my tooth when they put in the tube in the hospital, and now that I'm noticing it, it's irritating me
  • the fatigue is getting me down a little. If I thought I was low-energy before, that was nothing. It winds me to cross the room.
  • whether I'm sick or it's the meds I don't know, but I have some irritating symptoms in addition to the fatigue, the details of which I will spare you

Bad/good: Mom got really sick again and ended up back in the hospital. They're telling her there's no permanent fix, but now that she's feeling a little better, she's decided to make a pest of herself until they either figure out what she needs to do differently, or offer her a treatment regimen that will make her stop getting sick a couple times a week. Go, mom. Also on the good end of that is that my brother was there to take her to the hospital and keep her company some, and that her dearest friends also visited her lots.

Sorry you are feeling so low energy and the bad medication side effects I can so relate! I seem to finally be getting some of my energy back. Although I am paying for it tonight. I think doing Trader Joes and Costco in one evening(yesterday)was pushing my new found energy. But now I have two days to sleep in YAY! If there is anything I can do let me know!

Recovering from from these things does take time, love. And I don't know about you but I have a hard time knowing my mom is sick when I am also sick. I wish I could help in some way. You are in my thoughts, dear. I was thinking a lot about you during my visit to San Diego. You did such a great job of pulling that 'boink together. Thanks, I'll always be glad I managed to get there.

I went under general in May for 'oscopies. They chipped my tooth with the tube too. Now I can't feel it; maybe friction wore it smooth.

I had a lot more fatigue and shortness of breath for a couple of weeks after going under general.

I had a big bruise from where they failed to put in an IV, and that actually helped, because I told myself that when the bruise fades that will mean other parts of my body are getting back to normal too, and until then, my body gets to be more tired and painful than usual. It took 2 weeks for the bruise to fade and I was better then.

PS I'm sorry your mom is having trouble again. I hope they can really fix it, dammit.

Me, too. I wouldn't be surprised if she gives up soon if they don't. Can't say I'd blame her. It's been months since she had a full day of feeling well.

Smart person. Yes, I decided today not to worry about being tired and puny until at least my one-week (8 days, I think) check-up, and James says at least 2 weeks. I'm much more tired than last time, but they did a lot more, so I have to make allowances for it. The part that's most frustrating for me is not being able to bend or lift, but I will survive if the housework goes undone, or done by others, so I gotta chill. Glad you recovered in good time, too.

It takes me 8 days to heal from "normal" scratches, burns and bruises. I think it's okay to allow a bit more time when you've actually been cut open and all :-)

:-) The reality checks help; thanks!

I cooked dinner and washed some dishes today (in addition to a couple walks). I feel mighty compared to yesterday, and James says I seem more like myself, which I'll take as a compliment. :-)

I've found, when I'm expecting too much of myself, and I back off a bit, that suddenly I feel so much better and more capable. Hope the healing continues to go well.
