1. Where did your LJ handle come from?
short answer - it's my name
longer answer - in 1998, my first online name was "serene_rebel" and people naturally truncated it to "serene". Eventually, that started feeling like my real name, so I began using it in person, and most of my online names have it in there somewhere.

2. How do you style your hair?
Hah!

3. What was the last text message you sent and to whom did you send it?
"Good morning I love you" to my mother.

4. What are you currently reading?
The Audacity of Hope

5. Do you need music to study/write/work?
no, and it distracts me. I do, however, like some noise when I'm working -- I'm pretty productive in a cafe, for instance.

6. What is the last song on your play list?
Hmm. The first play list on my player is "chick rock" and the last song is "Be and Be Not Afraid", by Tracy Chapman.

7. What is your biggest obsession?
Cleanliness, though you wouldn't know it from looking at my house.

8. Do you have a crush at the moment?
Nope.

9. What is your favorite movie genre?
I like indie and non-US movies, because they seem richer, on average, than the Hollywood stuff I've seen.

10. What was the last thing you ate today?
I haven't eaten yet. I have to wait an hour after I take my thyroid pill.

LJ, calagenda.berkeley.edu, calmail.berkeley.edu, google, facebook (for the games), Frazz, netflix, duotrope, totally looks like

I don't have one favorite, but baerana's favorite (mashed potatoes) isn't even on the list. :-)

14. Which languages do you wish you spoke?
Japanese, i guess. really, any more languages would be nice

Water.

17. Who was your childhood idol?
Harriet Tubman. I was so fascinated with her.

18. Where would you like your next holiday to be?
In my home. If I never had to leave my home except to take walks and go shopping, I wouldn't.

19. What do you do to fall asleep?
I don't really have any trouble falling asleep. It's staying asleep that's hard for me.

You, too? It sucks, doesn't it? I don't think I've slept through the night without being on pain meds in five years. :-(

Yes! And anything will affect it. It happens when I'm stressed, when I eat too much, when I eat too little, when I have to get up in the middle of the night and go to the washroom...basically when anything at all happens. It's most of the reason I prefer to sleep alone most nights.
