Got this meme else-flist, most recently at [livejournal.com profile] gramina, and it occurred to me that while, for some of you, I have very *vivid* memories of how we met, for others, not so much -- thus, a meme:

Part of being on Livejournal is inevitably gaining a number of LJ buddies. Unfortunately, as time wears on, it's easy to forget where all of them came from. Post this in your journal and have your friends respond with how they recall first 'meeting' you.

Feel free to answer -- if you're inclined to -- even if you know darned good and well I remember every detail ;)

I met you in the journals on OKCupid, where I was always impressed with your good sense and intelligent comments. I'm not sure I remember specifically when I first noticed you (it is a community, after all) but I do remember some of your common-sense responses to the whole "obese people are ugly" threads that were going around a bit over a year ago.

Yeah, that's basically the memory I have of you. I also think you were one of the first to hop on the "Let's post photos of our fat bodies" bandwagon during that big thread, and I just loved you so much for that.

I'd seen you around LJ, but really touched me with your kindness when my ankle was broken and you offered to help supervise my kids at the park. So I friended you.

Then we met when you offered to make my family dinner... I met your sweet self at your place, in person for the first time... I also met you amazing chicken enchilada casserole! Nom nom nom! ;-)

I'm pretty sure I came to one of your parties with Aaron and that's where I first met you. I thought "Wow, Serene really likes feeding people. She's a great hostess."

The polyamory LJ comm, I'm pretty sure, or maybe the bipolypagangeek LJ, or both.

I met you virtually on alt.poly and I can't remember if our first in-person meeting was at one of RJ's parties or at one of Mary's parties. You were both shyer and less shy than I expected in person.

I met you on Wombat, and had the joy of meeting you in person in San Diego. That time holds so many wonderful memories for me...thank you for coordinating it.

alt.poly. Which means I don't need to have vivid memories, because my prosthetic brain will take care of it. Mwa-ha-ha.

You firehosed a lifetime's worth of East Bay knowledge into the comments of my old LJ, in a marathon series of comments that still makes me smile, when I think of waking to read them! I'm still working through those recommendations! :)

And I STILL haven't picked up those books - if you still have them, can I come around and pick them up? Totally understand if you no longer have them, or if now's not a good time. I certainly wouldn't over-stay - I am nothing if not respectful of others' space, health and needs.

at the home of Loracs and Stonebender and Dbubley when you and Stonebender were fairly new, but you still lived 500 miles away.

Now I can't imagine online life or real life without you.
