I had just finished telling my mother that I am really most touched by the personal stories that have come out of this tragedy. I packed my birthday gifts in the car and drove home, all the while hearing story after story of heros and the fallen (September 11th Telethon). I am humbled and a little afraid.

Yes. The towers were a building; I find it hard to get worked up by them, or even by the images of the planes crashing into them. It's the stories of the people who stayed behind or went back in or held someone's hand that reduce me to sobs.
