What an eventful day I've had!

I worked a longer-than-usual day.

I picked up the magazines, which are beautiful.

I walked into the OB/GYN's office to talk about getting the Essure and walked out with an IUD.

So I'm a little spent. I really really really don't like OB/GYN procedures, especially when they hurt -- they make me feel violated. So I'm gonna go buy something easy to throw into the oven for dinner, and then I'm gonna soothe myself by stuffing magazines into envelopes.

And I can't have sex for two weeks!

Oh, hugs to you!

No sex a'tall?! Or just not penetrative sex? You've just had a helluva year so far!

WHA??? No sex for two weeks? Bull pucky I say. My ob/gyn let me be free after three hours. And it was all good!

Seems odd.

yeah...the no sex thing for two weeks sucks, but I had the myrena iud put in 4 years ago and it has been the most problem free birth control I have ever EVER used. I'm glad I did it.

*feel better, snuggle up* and look forward to good days!

When I got mine, no one mentioned the no sex for two weeks thing. I had ridiculous crazy sex a few days, no more than a week, later. Other than being a bit sore, no harm no foul. :)

Huh, IUD. Had you had one before? Can I ask why you picked that? I have been thinking idly about them for a while now.

I haven't ever had one before. I was a little afraid of them, but he explained about how the scary ones were different, and it was a long time ago. Also, two factors sold me:

1) The thing I'd wanted the Essure for was the permanence of it, but he pointed out that, since I'm 42, a ten-year IUD is likely to be as permanent as I need.

2) The wait for the Essure would have been a month to see the other doctor (the doc I saw today doesn't do them, and I was scheduled with him in error) and then three months before it did its thing. The IUD works immediately, and he was willing to put it in today (and it took literally two minutes for him to insert it).

I can't do hormonal birth control any more; condoms are suboptimal but okay; I only swap fluids with one partner; and I DEFINITELY don't want kids. So something I don't have to think about or keep stocked in the dresser drawer was a big draw, I have to admit.
