There IS a certain logic to that...the consequences of sex for girls are physically and emotionally more serious for them, because they are the ones that have to make most of the very hard decisions in case of accidental pregnancy, while the male's only obligation is financial support. Also, STDs are much more easily passed M to F than the other way around.

When I read that STD prevention implies that people will become sexual some day, I feel stabbity. So, if you don't get vaccinated against STDs, you'll be a virgin forever, right? And thus qualify for sainthood? Grrrrrr
Reminds me of the history of oral contrception in Japan. For 40 years, the pill was held back "for further study". But when Viagra hit the scene, it was approved in record time. When the double standard was called out, they finally approved the pill. Pisses me off.
