Stop whining and do something

For someone so grateful for the marvels of modern medicine, I am ultra-resistant to taking drugs. I hate the idea of them, even while being genuinely glad they exist. I finally bit the bullet and started on the four-times-a-day anti-inflammatory thing my doctor's been recommending to me. I'm feeling a little better, but I expect the beneficial effects to increase as it builds up in my system. I'm glad it's available, and I hate that I have to take it. Along with the heart pills that help with the side effects of the thyroid pills that help with the side effects of cancer surgery... It feels like it never ends.

But I've decided to stop whining about my pain here, and replace that with whining about my meds. Isn't that so much more attractive? ;-)

Wish we didn't have to share this solidarity, but glad I'm not alone. I really wish that I could get at the cause of this and stop it that way, rather than medicating the symptoms. It's really annoying to my problem-solving brain to come at things in this direction. (Plus, I held on to enough of my hippychick past to feel somehow morally deficient if I'm not in full health, even though I now know that's bullshit.)
