In the seven years we've lived in this house, I've seen maybe two houseflies the whole time. We just don't have a fly problem.

Day before yesterday, we suddenly had dozens. Maybe a hundred. Eeeek!

The boyfiend vacuumed up a lot of them and released them into the wild, but they were still going strong today.

So we spent a good chunk of the day cleaning the kitchen, putting away food and eating utensils, and preparing to nuke the things with a flying-insect mist tomorrow while I'm at work.

No, I don't like using poisons. The alternatives were just too gross for me to contemplate. Please don't judge.

Bleah. The shame and revulsion and EEK! are so strong.

I can understand that. Our place is usually devoid of insect life, or always has been. Recently, we've been having spiders. Not many, and I know spiders are the good kinds of insects, but whenever I find one it freaks me right out, because there aren't supposed to be insects in our place.

What weirded me out more was the brief period of time when we seemed to have a number of spiders living *in our car*.

Aaagh! No judgment. Sudden insect infestations are creepy!

For the record, I have had good results using the classic flypaper.

I'd love to build a sonar-guided laser fly zapper, if I could figure out how to stop it zapping other things.
