James, playing Minecraft, a game he's been explaining the wacky rules of to me for months, a little at a time: "I bet you didn't know ladders make an excellent underwater breathing apparatus."

Me: "Well, they're lava-repellent, so why wouldn't they be waterproof?"

Him: "Exactly. See, now that's the kind of out-of-the-box thinking that's useful when the box is made of crazy."
