Stolen from [personal profile] firecat, along with several of her answers. It's not often I have time to do stuff like this these days, but James cleaned the kitchen, I finished my homework, and there's an hour before bedtime. Whee!

Sunday Stealing: The Eve Was Framed Meme

1. Why is your favorite color your favorite?
I don't know! I rarely know why visceral things like that are faves.

2. Do you prefer dogs or cats or do you just hate animals, and want to kill baby seals?
I like cats, but I'm not especially attached to them, or to any animals, except in a vague, hare-krishna peacenik kind of way.

3. How much time do you spend on the computer?
Probably eight or ten hours a day; more on workdays.

4. Not including porn, what do you do on the computer?
I don't really do porn, but on the computer, I spend most of my time on SparkPeople, my school sites, Facebook, and in email. A little on Usenet, a little doing banking and similar things, a little IMing with my partners.

5. Are you a clock watcher?
Not usually.

6. What do you/did you look for in a partner?
I don't tend to think of things in that way. I know what I like in my partners, but I don't think I'm usually consciously "looking for" things in that way.

7. What type of clothing do you prefer?
I like things that flow loosely, feel "girly" to me, and are comfortable. I love fabrics that feel good. I dislike how I look in blue clothes, and like how I look in red. If I had normal sized feet, I'd be a total shoe slut, but as it is, I wear ugly, practical shoes.

8. What is your favorite type of music?
Folk-rock singer-songwriters, mostly.

9. Do you believe in the paranormal, Ghosts, ESP, levitation, spoon bending?
Nope.

10. The most important question: Do you have a inie or outie belly button?
Innnnnnnie.

11. What kind of car do you drive?
When I want a car, I rent one. I belong to Zipcar and sometimes also use regular rental-car places if I'm renting for longer than a few hours.

12. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun or The Boys Are Back in Town?
I like the music of "The Boys Are Back In Town" better, but the lyrics of "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" better.

13. Camping or the Ritz?
Either. I'm easy.

14. What food are you craving RIGHT NOW . . . did you eat it?
I'm not craving anything. I just had a WONDERFUL dinner with James: baguette, two nice cheeses, grapes, tiny sweet peppers, tiny grape tomatoes, tuna-stuffed olives, and a new variety of apple that I quite liked, but I can't remember its name.

15. The most thrilling place you've ever visited. Why?
Hmmm. Let me think about this.

16. If you could slip into the skin of one public figure--celebrity, artist,--who would it be?
No, thank you. In fact, not just no. Hell, no.

17. Look up from your computer. What do you see first?
The side of my freezer, which has magenetized to it a FlyLady sticker, a dry-erase calendar with nothing on it, and a dry-erase marker.

18. Sum up your philosophy of life in one sentence. You can borrow it from someone else, if you'd like.

"People living fully have little fear of death." Anais Nin

19. Name the one thing you just don't understand about kids today.
I don't think kids are all that different today; they just have different shit to deal with.

20. If you could steal one work of art from a museum or gallery, which would it be?
I cannot imagine caring enough about a work of art to bother.

And from last week:

http://sundaystealing.blogspot.com/2012/02/scottish-meme.html

Sunday Stealing: The Censored Meme

1. Where are you from and where do you live now?
I am from New England originally, but I was raised all over the world in a Navy family. I live in Oakland now.

2. Favorite childhood story/book/film?
story/book: Every Nancy Drew book I could get my hands on.
film: Sleeping Beauty. I still love it.

3. If you could change gender for a day what would you do?
Again, no thanks. Feels disrespectful to me.

4. Do you feel you family is complete or would you like more/some children?
It's complete with no children. (I never think of family in terms of whether it is "complete" though. That makes family sound like it's the same as collecting stamps.)

5. What do you do/Where do you work and do you enjoy it?
I work at UC Berkeley as an admin assistant, at CSU East Bay as a student, and at home as a parent, partner, and sometime freelance copy editor. I mostly like my work.

6. Which three words do you think sum you up?
Pursuing ethical joy.

7. If you were a fairy what magical powers would you possess?
The magical power to give someone the ability to see complex things from other people's perspectives.

8. If you were invisible, where would you go and what would you do? Why?
Hmm. I don't know. I'm not sure there is anything I'd do that's ethical that I can't do now.

9. What song can’t you listen to without crying?
Lately, this Dixie Chicks song about the traveling soldier, though I'm not sure if that's the name of the song or not.

10. Which book changed your life – or at least made you think a lot?
I was reading a book called "Stop Improving Yourself and Start Living," and this line hit me between the eyes: "Adults don't overexplain." It's when I realized I get to just say "No, thank you," and I don't actually have to explain why not to your satisfaction.

11. Why do you blog?
Because Usenet is practically dead and I want to have interesting conversations with people. That's firecat's answer, but I'll add that I'm essentially self-involved, and love talking about myself.

12. What is your top ‘me-time’ tip?
It's not a tip, but for me, it was important to realize that the things that refresh me are not the things that refresh other people. Some people get depressed when they find out they have to spend the evening at home. I get excited and happy.

13. What can’t you live without?
I don't want to live without a clear intention to be the best person I can.

14. Which of all your blog posts are you most proud of and why?
Hmm, I don't really think of things that way. My blogs (I have several of them) really reflect me as a person, and I like that, but I don't think I have clear favorite posts.

15. Have you ever met a famous person? Who and where?
Met Gregory Hines very briefly in front of the Eames Museum once. I said "We LOVE you," and he said thank you. Some of my friends are moderately famous, or in their circles quite famous, so often, people will say things like, "THE Debbie Notkin?"

16. When did you last have a full nights sleep?
Last night, if you count sleeping until 5am, getting up for two hours, then going back to sleep for another couple of hours.

17. What would you think is harder: Going to work or staying at home with children?
That makes no sense. It depends on what kind of work and what kind of / how many children.

18. What are you doing for Easter?
I don't even know when Easter is.

19. What is your favorite drink?
Water, hands down.

20. Do you play any sports?
I played softball and baseball lonnnnnnnng ago, but don't play anything now.

21. What is your most embarrassing moment?
I have an obsessive glitch where memories pop into my head with shame and embarrassment attached to them. There are thousands of different ones, some of which go all the way back to my earliest childhood, and the emotion is pretty intense every time it happens. That was firecat's answer, but I'll add that when this happens to me, even if I'm on the street in public, I often utter some nonsense out loud to -- what? distract myself from the feeling? I don't know. It's odd.

22. How clever are you?
I'm very smart in some ways but not all that clever, in the "think on your feet, think outside the box" way.

23. Name a new favorite TV show?
I tend to get to stuff lonnnnnnng after it's aired. The latest thing I was enjoying was "Murder in Suburbia," though it's not really all that good.

24. Any guilty pleasures?
No. If I'm guilty, it's no pleasure, and if it's a pleasure, I refuse to feel guilty.

25. If you could have chosen your own name, what would it be?
I did choose my own name.

26. Who do you most admire in life, and why?
There's no "most." I admire a lot of people for a lot of different reasons.

27. What is your most treasured possession?
I can't think of a possession I treasure. There's some jewelry that my partners have given me that I have sentimental attachment to, but I don't mistake them for being the thing they signify.

28. Tell your favorite funny joke…
Oh, I don't know any funny jokes! You tell ME one!

29. What is your biggest fear in life?
That my kids or other loved ones will be in danger and I won't be able to save them.

30. What is your favorite flavor of ice cream? What does it remind you of?
At the moment, it's the mocha java chip gelato at Good Bellies. It doesn't remind me of anything.

I was hoping you would do this meme :)

The magical power to give someone the ability to see complex things from other people's perspectives.

Good one.

when this happens to me, even if I'm on the street in public, I often utter some nonsense out loud to -- what? distract myself from the feeling?

This is part of the glitch for me too, except that what I usually feel like saying is something self-abusive.
