So, it's probably pretty obvious that I'm having a rough time lately, but there's still LOTS of good stuff!

In no particular order:

1) My mom and I are having some good times together. She's having a rough time herself, rougher than I am, and we make each other laugh, which in itself is enough to validate my decision to come here.

2) There are farmers' markets here, and we've gone to a couple of them. We're going to my old favorite one later today, which apparently has grown to be huge. Should be fun, but might be too much to handle on a regular basis. Might get a CSA box instead of chasing farmers' markets all week.

3) James and I are going to opt out of Christmas stuff this year, and I've booked us a Christmas Day whalewatching cruise! (I snagged the idea from a tweet by [livejournal.com profile] seanan_mcguire.)

4) I am having some luck with jobhunt stuff and expect that I'll be working by January.

5) The apartment is ready for the guy to come tomorrow and rewire it, put up walls, etc. James did an AMAZING job ripping out all the walls and fixtures and disposing of all the drywall, etc. I took some photos on his phone, and will share some later.

6) I'm eating better, so I'm feeling better.

7) My family love me.

8) The refinery fire that was making it hard for my kid to breathe wasn't worse.

Glad you are having a good time with your mom. I'm sure everything will feel more settled once the apt is ready for you and James to move into and you have a job. Crossing my fingers that 2015 starts with all that good stuff and then improves even more. Whale watching sounds wonderful. Yesterday I finally mailed the t-shirt we bought for you a few months ago. Pippin card went in the mail yesterday too.

Linda is on vacation for a week, so I'd better get Guy up and start his day - mine has already been busy with dealing with our neighbor's pit bull that broke through our fence this morning just as I was letting Pip and Misha (we're watching LE's dog while she is in rehab for her back surgery) out to do their business. I managed to keep the pit bull out and get the girls up the stairs to safety. The father and son are working on repairing the fence now. After that excitement I went to the store to pick up stuff for xmas day in Manteca. I'm making fudge in the slow cooker, roasting a bunch of veggies and chopping all the salad stuff.

I'll probably make it tonight or tomorrow to take to Manteca. I even bought the coarse sea salt to put on top. I'll let you know how it came out.

Don't bother to try the fudge recipe, it was way too sweet. Everyone, even the real sweet tooth people, on xmas thought it was too sweet. Small bites with a big spoon of vanilla ice might be okay, otherwise, I can't think of a reason I would ever make this again.
