Wednesday media consumption thingy

When mom was halfway to my brother's, he called to tell her everyone there was sick. Now she's got the flu or something -- fever of 101.7 and chills, and I'm keeping an eye on her. I need to go take her temperature again in 30 minutes or so, so I thought I'd do the reading thingy while I wait.
Reading
Still reading a lot of e-books from my library. Mostly murder mysteries, because those are my comfort reading, but also recently read Binti: Home, which is of course wonderful because Nnedi Okorafor is a wonderful writer; and The Cooking Gene, which if you love either cooking or history (or both!), you may love. The writing is very good.
Watching
On Amazon:
We got Amazon Prime because Munchkin The Elder needed a book the next day, and included with it is a bunch of streaming video. I have so far watched "Bosch," which is a dramatization of a book series I like; some of "The Americans," which I like; an episode of "Mister Robot," which I may watch more of and may not; all 9 seasons of Doctor Who that they have for free (I'm not buying Series 10 until I'm out of debt); and a few minutes of a bunch of other stuff that didn't hold my interest. Started to rewatch "Torchwood," but I don't feel like it's held up for me.
On Netflix:
"Broadchurch," season 3, which I liked almost as much as the first two seasons; about a dozen episodes of "Glee," which is just too mean-spirited for me; season 1 of "The Good Place," which I felt meh about but did watch anyway.
On disc:
Mostly just silly junk with James. We don't buy many videos, but we rewatch stuff a lot. The kid bought us the Munsters Christmas thing I mentioned the other day.
Listening
James got me Google Play, so I've been listening to lots of stuff I have (or used to have) on disc: Hotel California, Solitude Standing, Little Plastic Castles, Diamonds and Rust...
Playing
Same video games as always -- Two Dots and Dots & Co., but also a fair bit of cards with mom. We generally play gin or pitch, but sometimes cribbage. We're evenly matched at all three, so there's a lot of trash talk, and a lot of laughter, and it's probably in the top five best parts of being home.

Date: 2017-12-27 11:40 pm (UTC)I haven't watched True Detective yet; will check it out. Hap & Leonard I caught maybe half an episode of; not sure why I didn't continue, but it's still on my queue. Daredevil is tense for me in much the same way Jessica Jones was, so I still watch it, but only every now and then when I'm in the mood.
Have you watched Miss Fisher's Mysteries? If no, you are in for a treat!
