Besides the fact that it's fun to geek about numbers, I'm enjoying knowing that every dollar I don't spend on groceries is another dollar I'll have for Boston.

In the last two weeks:

Regular price of the groceries I've bought: 222.95
What I paid: 140.92
How much I saved: 82.03 (37%)

I can do better. :-)

Unfortunatly, I don't get a newspaper, which means I don't get the coupons that would come with it...

normally I'd be a coupon shopper-any suggestions for good coupon sources?

From: [identity profile] serenejournal.livejournal.com
Yep! I only buy the Sunday paper, because the $.99 it costs me (on sale at Albertsons on Saturdays -- we call it the ESP paper) is recouped by a mile when I redeem the coupons (which are doubled at both Vons and Ralphs. Not at Albertsons, though, so I only go there if something in their sale flyer is irresistable). Also, my mom gets the paper, and she and I sit down every week or two and go through our coupons and swap. But anyway, here are the sites in my couponing folder, in no special order:

http://www.valupage.com

http://www.coolsavings.com

http://www.smartsource.com

http://www.nesteggz.com (The coupons are small, but they put larger amounts into an account that you can withdraw from when you want. The checks come quickly when you ask for them.)

http://www.upons.com (If your store is on there, they put the coupons directly onto your club card.)

http://www.startsampling.com (I've gotten dozens of free samples from them so far)

Some others that will depend on where you live and what store you shop at:

The store itself's website (mine are vons.com and ralphs.com)

Your local newspaper's site (mine has a section called "custom coupons" where you select what you want, and they send them in the mail)

At least one of these (startsampling) seems to do a member referral thing. Do you want to refer me formally, to get whatever they're offering?
From: [identity profile] serenejournal.livejournal.com
Sure, if you feel like giving me a first name and email address to give them (you can email them to me at serene@serenepages.org if you don't want to put them here). Thanks! I hadn't thought of it.

sigh. sometimes being allergic to perfume sucks. seven items on the "you could get samples of these products!" list are things that i'd probably be allergic to. but i'll look at some of these in more depth later--if i want to be a member and there's a referral possibility, i'll let you know so you can get the credit.

Boston! She said Boston, Beavis! Hur hur hur hur hur.

/me bounces at the thought of meeting Serene at last

Do we get to jello-wrestle, do you suppose?

I think there was one in the last batch I clipped, but I didn't buy jello cause I already had plenty in the house.

Heh. I actually don't do jello, but I might make an exception for Sandra. :-)

ko-jel? Does that work for you....

Or is that an east coast thing?

No idea. Is it kosher gelatin, I'm guessing? (Since I don't like jello, I don't worry about finding vegan versions. The vegan jello I tried in the '80s was nasty, anyway, but I don't like regular jello, either.)

It is in fact Kosher Gelatin...made IIRC with vegetable stuff instead. It's not quite the same as the real thing...

Yes, but is it good enough to wrestle in?
