1) It takes me about as long to apologize to the kid when I've been an asshole to her as it does for her to apologize to me when the roles are reversed. There's probably a lesson in this.

2) My mommy's coming! Her teenager is being much more trying than mine is. Poor mom. I wish I could fix it for her, but I can't figure out how I would do that.

On 1): maybe she's getting practice starting earlier? It's not something that was really part of my experience in that way when I was growing up and I think I'd have benefitted from it.
