I love everything Alice Walker has written from The Color Purple forward, but I couldn't muster any interest in her earlier novels at all.

Well, I read it in high school, which was 10 years ago, so I don't actually remember what it was about at all, but I do remember I didn't like it. Nor any of the other early novels I tried to read by her.
