Catching up
Oct. 13th, 2004 07:58 pmSome notes from the last week or two:
1) Sunrises in my new town are much more beautiful than they were in San Diego. Now, *sunsets* in San Diego are beyond gorgeous, but where I lived, the mountains obscured the sunrise. Lately, though, I've been seeing some beauties on the way to work.
2) ( family stuff and how we dealt with my mother-out-law's death and her estate )
3. The contract at work ends at the end of November. One of my bosses has arranged to hire me for a part time job with benefits (the shit job I try to give away here from time to time), and I'm really thrilled. I will be working two days a week, getting enough money to scrape by, and getting *benefits*! Goodbye to spending $340 a month on COBRA, yay!
4. Munchkin the Elder is having a hard time at home. Zie wants to move in with me. I'm driving down for a visit in a week and a half, and we're gonna discuss it. Oy.
5. We got a dining table! I can't tell you how happy this makes me. I have hated eating on our laps or on tv trays.
stonebender is gonna get me some paint to refurbish it, but it's a great, sturdy table, and I adore it, even if it was free on freecycle. :-)
6. I made the Andersen's Split Pea Soup recipe that I bought from the restaurant when we went. It turned out really well, and if anyone wants the recipe, lemme know and I'll email it to you.
7. During all this upheaval, I have been bad about keeping in touch with folks. Add in that the desktop I was using, which contained all my saved email, bit the dust last week, and you get a plea from me: If I owe you email and you wish you would hear from me, take pity on me, please, and send me email at serene@serenepages.org. Thank you.
Life is hard; life is good. I can live with that.
