Fun fun fun

Well, Munchkin The Elder should arrive with my mom tomorrow nightish. Zie's staying two weeks, until my mom has off from work and can spend time at home with zir.

This will be fun for me, but also interesting in that not-sure-how-fun-it-will-be way because my partners don't especially love having an energetic teenager around. I plan to keep zir busy (and away from the house) during the day so my partners can have some quiet time, but evenings will be interesting. I called my mom just now and told her to please make sure the nibling brings plenty to read, and plenty of calm activities for the evenings. She said zie's bringing zir GameBoy, but is currently out of anime books. And me with overdue fines at the library. I'd better pay those so zie can check out books. Also, if anyone has any to lend, that would be cool. Zie can go through ten a day.

Anyway, I'm excited, but it's also a little stressful. Today, I want to finish up my contract work and get the house clean, so I should get off LJ and get to work. Have a lovely Friday, everyone!

someotherguy, by the way, is the perfect person for me to be with in a crisis. He doesn't freak out or yell. He is sweet and takes care of me. And he lets me take care of him a little, too.

making myself feel better

Cooking helps my mood, and I figured it would also warm up the house and me, too. But I have no onions, and it's hard to cook when you're me and there are no onions. So I went hunting for something with onions already in it, and found two boxes of chicken chili. I sliced black olives and mixed them in with the chili, and put that mixture in a buttered casserole dish. Topped it with some polenta I made (added chili powder, goat cheese, and butter to the polenta). Baked it for a half hour. Very, very yummy. I feel a lot better now. (Partly because I cried on my partners, partly because I'm warming up, partly because I cooked, and partly because I'm finally in my fucking house.)
