Almost missed my bus stop today because I was engrossed in my book. Well,
no, that's not strictly true. I was engrossed in the character. He's
Michael Connelly's Hieronymous Bosch, and I just realized why I am so
drawn to him. He's TOTGA[1]. Tall, brooding, quiet. Very moral and good,
but zir dark side has zir convinced zie's not a good person. Strongly
developed sense of what's right and wrong in the world, accompanied by an
undercurrent of anger and fatigue. Does the right thing as a matter of
course, so fucking up or doing the wrong thing eats at zir for a good long
time, and often results in self-destructive behaviors, either as
self-punishment, or as a rest from being so vigilant about zir
responsibilities all the time.

Reading the rest of the book will be weird, now that I've realized the
strange emotional connection.

So not only is [livejournal.com profile] cassidyrose giving me some of her organic
heirloom tomato starts, she's *bringing* them to me. How did I rate such
good friends? (Don't answer that; it's rhetorical. I'm a good person, and
I deserve good friends. Happy now? ;-)

One of my really favorite ways to end a workday is to walk to the BART
station and meet [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy there, then walk with him the
couple of miles home, stopping wherever we want on the way (sometimes the
Berkeley Bowl, sometimes dinner and/or coffee, stuff like that). It
usually takes us a couple of hours or so, and by the time we're home, I
feel all relaxed and happy.

I'm off to do that in 20 minutes. It's been a long and busy few weeks,
and I'm really happy to have some chill time.
