Anyone want some meat? If so, comment here with your character name. I
haven't played in months, and I've got 57,000 extra meat.

When I was in Japan, people showered me with gifts. When I got home, more
gifts from my loved ones. One of my favorites was this one:

[livejournal.com profile] someotherguy was at the Berkeley Bowl or the BART station or
something while I was in Tokyo, and a guy was there selling poems written
on the spot, on any topic. [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy told the guy that he
would be picking his girlfriend up at the BART after a two-and-a-half week
trip to Japan, and the guy wrote a sweet, non-sucky poem about our
reuniting. [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy gave him ten bucks for the poem, and I
was really touched and grateful. Yesterday, we ran into the guy at the
Berkeley Bowl, and I was able to thank him. He seemed really happy that
I'd liked it.

It was lovely, and sweet, and if you know me at all, you know I groove on
it when poets get paid.

[No filter, but all comments are screened, and I reserve the right to refuse any request, with or without reason. If I refuse your request, I'll let you know in email as quickly as I can.]

If the idea of having some poet (okay, this poet) write you a personalized poem on the theme of your choosing appeals to you, then send (or promise) me any amount of money (that's right -- anything; your call. See "Payment", below.), and give me some guidelines (see "Guidelines", below), and I will write you a poem. I will work on it until it's something I like and am proud of, so it may take as much as a week or two.

Guidelines:

Some things you might ask for are certain people's names, themes, settings, situations, or forms (I have never written a villanelle, but I could try, and I like my sonnets quite a lot, though as you probably know, I'm most likely to write blank verse if you don't specify). You can even request specific words. If you want your poem to be really short or really long, let me know; otherwise, it will be as long as seems to be right for the piece. If you want it emailed to you, that's fine; if you'd prefer it signed and snailmailed, can do. If your payment (or promise to pay) is at least $10, I'll even frame it for you if you like, or send it as a gift to someone else, or whatever. Let me know, and we can work something out.

Payment:

I will accept any of the following methods of payment. If you can send the money now, cool -- you'll be my patron of the week. If not, you can do any of the following at your leisure:

1) Send money by paypal (serene@serenepages.org) -- I think paypal has a minimum of $1, though, sorry.

2) Send check/money order in the mail -- email for my address

3) Let me know that you'll pay me next time you see me or next time you can, or whatever. If I know you, that's good enough.

4) Send an electronic transfer. If I know you, write to me in email and I'll give you the bank numbers.
