A few notes

1) So busy lately that I barely read LJ, much less post. Trying to figure out how to manage my time and stress so that I can get fun stuff done, too. Today, I took a few hours off and went to see "Dreamgirls" with Danny. It was good, but not great, and I spent the final half hour stressing about how I wasn't home working. I gotta knock that shit off. I'm usually much better at living in the moment. (Part of this is that I'm not convinced I'm any good at the new job, and I hate being not-good at stuff.)

2) I got my insurance card in the mail! That means that starting on the first of next month, I can afford to go to the doctor for my chronic ailments, and not bankrupt my family by doing so. It also means I have a lot of motivation for busting my ass to get better at this job, so I can continue to work at home and get medical benefits while doing it.

3) My first splurge in months was a whole mess of really cool spice containers from Ikea today. I'll put up a picture when I get them filled and arranged. They're bringing me all kinds of joy.

4) As stressy as the work situation is, I cannot express the joy I've been finding in being in my home and spending my days with [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy instead of a building full of corporate (or public-sector) weenies.

Oh, and if I have a crush on you and I want you to know beyond doubt, I'll tell you. More likely, I'll flirt a little, hint a little, spend time with you when I can, and somewhere down the line, if it seems you may be crushed out on me (and if I'm still crushed out on you), I'll probably say something subtle like "I have a crush on you".

Just sayin'.

Wil Wheaton refers to his "William Fucking Shatner" story (it's in one of his books) often, and if you ever wanted to see it, he's recapping it this week. Fun fannish stuff.

Thank you, very cool person with the anonymous charitable gifty thing. I was feeling brittle earlier, and it's not your fault I didn't know what to do with your kind gift. My apologies, and thanks again.

1) It is nice to be cooked for. [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy made a yummy dinner of barbecued ribs, coleslaw, and cornbread tonight. There's something so decadent about eating leftovers of food I didn't even have to cook in the first place.

2) I think coleslaw (cole slaw?) may be my very favorite food in the Universe right now.

3) Do you ever experience that thing where you meet someone who believes the way you do, and then you're extra-disappointed that they're an asshole, because you really want all the people in your belief system to be wise and good and give you all a good name?

4) Can't decide what motivates me to write more: good writing, or bad performance poetry.

5) Tomorrow, I'm going to pick up Richard Shindell tickets. Anyone else want to go with us (me, [livejournal.com profile] stonebender, [livejournal.com profile] tenacious_snail, a couple others)?

Fun fannish moment: On my Pandora, it's playing a Joan Baez cut called "Fishing". I just knew after a few bars that this must be a Richard Shindell song. I looked on his website and I was right. It's so cool that his songwriting is so distinct that I can recognize it even when someone else is singing one of his songs.
