1) It is nice to be cooked for. [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy made a yummy dinner of barbecued ribs, coleslaw, and cornbread tonight. There's something so decadent about eating leftovers of food I didn't even have to cook in the first place.

2) I think coleslaw (cole slaw?) may be my very favorite food in the Universe right now.

3) Do you ever experience that thing where you meet someone who believes the way you do, and then you're extra-disappointed that they're an asshole, because you really want all the people in your belief system to be wise and good and give you all a good name?

4) Can't decide what motivates me to write more: good writing, or bad performance poetry.

5) Tomorrow, I'm going to pick up Richard Shindell tickets. Anyone else want to go with us (me, [livejournal.com profile] stonebender, [livejournal.com profile] tenacious_snail, a couple others)?

1.) Mmm, bbq. I've been craving good bbq for a few weeks now.

3.) Oh yes. Terribly disappointed.

Apropos No. 3, the charming and talented [livejournal.com profile] saoba would say:

"Stop being on our side - you make us look bad!"

BBQ? I'm jealous! I've been craving BBQ for months. Where is there a good place to go (based on personal experience) in the East Bay? I drive by Flint's all the time, and I've read that it's great, but individuals are always telling me not to go there, but not why... what's the mystery?

As for question #3: Yes, this seems to happen to me a lot. And even when the person isn't an asshole, I still don't like them for one reason or another. Makes me wonder sometimes about my beliefs!

We thought Flint's was just okay the two times we went there. Not worth the money, and they serve no side dishes. I hear really good things about E&J (Everett & Jones), but haven't been there. You should come have ribs with us some time. James is really good at making them.

You hardly ever see non-cole slaw. I think I've had carrot slaw (or was it broccoli slaw?) a time or two but thats it.

Why no bananaslaw or orangeslaw? How about doughnutslaw or pancakeslaw? Would an eclairslaw be too much to ask for?

Hard to say. Sometimes I am inspired by events around me (most of the time it involves someone's death, which sucks) but I'd say a good third of the time it's more one the lines of "Oh, please, we must have something better than that!"

Though, my most recent inspiration came off a really bad joke someone just posted. :)

2) There is an Indian buffet here which, as far as I've seen so far, makes the best cole slaw in the city. I love Indian food, but every time we go there, I get plate after identical plate: A few pakoras with some yogurt on them and a huge mound of cole slaw.. (Mind you, I've been finding that as I get older, "plate after plate," at buffets has gradually become just "plate", which starts to make them economically unappealing.)

3) Yes!
