(no subject)

We got Spartacus a pal. (The new guinea pig is actually Spartacus's nephew, and their coloration is almost the same, so when they're all cuddled, which they are a lot, they look like one giant guinea pig.) They have this happy chirping noise they make when they're together, and they make it most of the time. It's driving the teenager crazy, but I like it a lot.

The new pig doesn't have a name yet. So far, she's just calling it "the little one", but I'm pretty sure it won't be little for long. We kind of spoil our pets around here.

Weekend roundup

I had big plans for the weekend that included getting done dozens of things. Here's what I did instead:

• Read two thirds of Black Betty
  
• Slept a LOT; played a lot of mindless online games; rested a lot
  
• Fixed the alignment errors in the magazine (but did not get it back to the printer yet. I'll do it tomorrow, since the printer is near work)
  
• Put away a load of dishes
  
• Cleaned off the counter in the kitchen
  
• Washed just enough clothes so that I don't have to go to work naked tomorrow
  
• Got a new guinea pig
  
• Shopped for and bought (in person) paint and paint supplies so that wtfpotatoes can paint her new room before she moves in (or, um, rather, before she stores her stuff in there. Like her sofa. And her computer. You know. It's a storeroom.)
  
• Shopped for and bought (online) a new wireless system so that wtfpotatoes can have internet in her new room (it's working great)
  
• Shopped for and cooked carnitas, a pork roast, some garlic gravy, breakfast for me and someotherguy, and a big pot of chicken stock

Outside of the roasted version I made for last year's Oscar party, I've never managed to make ratatouille that was worth a damn. Don't ask me why.

loracs obviously does not share my ratatouille incompetence.
