News from the Best Job Ever
Aug. 4th, 2009 09:30 amI shall use my morning migraine break (that's a coffee break with aspirin added -- migraine seems to be responding, yay!) to tell you some good things about my job. (This is not to gloat, but to express gratitude. If I made more money, maybe I'd gloat, but I suspect even my friends on unemployment are clearing more than I am.)
1) There was a glitch and I didn't get paid this month. Not only are they rushing around to fix this, but they *volunteered* to pay the bounce fee this caused when my beginning-of-the-month automatic bill payments went through.
2) The new great-grandboss not only seeks our input, he *listens*. I have worked a lot of places, so I know this is rare, but now I have three bosses (boss, grandboss, and new great-grandboss) who do this. It's like there's a magical dome of awesomeness in this building.
3) It's UC Berkeley. That in itself deserves its own gratitude point.
4) Right next door to my office, there's a snack bar that sells a bowl of hot oatmeal (with your choice of butter, honey, raisins, brown sugar, cinnamon, etc.) for $1.25, and a cup of coffee with free soymilk (vanilla or chocolate) for $.99. So for $2.24, I had oatmeal and a soy mocha for breakfast. I'm happy.
What are you grateful for today?
