wtfpotatoes and her brother in my life. I'm no longer obligated to have the sibling in my home, now that the kids are adults. The sibling no longer lives with and torments my mother. So basically, I have nothing to be mad at this person for any more, and I don't have the energy to hate anyone. When the sibling calls me, I offer moral support for the cancer journey, and I decline to encourage my mom to help out by opening her doors to the toxic sibling. But I behave kindly, and it usually doesn't drive me crazy any more, because the power over the kids is what drove me nuts for all those years.
Still, it's gonna suck major rocks when I write that check for $944.57* to the IRS because of this sibling's actions. My reaction right now isn't anger; it's sorrow for a life spent hurting, using, and disregarding other people. What a misery that would be. I am so glad I get to be me and not this sad, small, dying person.
*For those keeping score at home, yes, that's almost a month's paycheck for me, but $400 or so of it will be paid out of this year's refund, and I got a couple hundred dollars' worth of extra hours this month, as well. Ah, well. On the good side, my FAFSA came back with a probable five-figure student aid outcome, so I'll be doing okay once I start school.
