Which non-LJ blogs do you read? I have some bookmarked in addition to a couple I have syndicated. These are the bookmarked ones:

As I Please (Alan Bostick)
Bouncing B/SCUITS (Jon Singer)
Madwoman [with a vcr]'s Maunderings (Kathy Li)
News From Me (Mark Evanier)

Which do you read? Which do you love? Translation: Which blogs will add to the quality of serene's copious websurfing-at-work?

I liked all these blogs. I'm going to start one myself, so I'm going to answer your question with more questions:

Where do you find good blogs? (blogger.com seems pretty tame these days)

How do you set up a blog?

What's the best way to promote it?

Any guesses on where I might find these answers?

I think of my LJ as my blog, but in answer to one of your questions, I find them by clicking links in people I respect's journals. I have no idea about the other stuff, except to wonder if blogger.com and the others have good FAQs.

Riba Rambles (http://www.osmond-riba.org/lis/journal/) is my wife's blog. News, library stuff, our life. I read it, because otherwise, I don't necessarily know what's going on in Lis's life. It's syndicated to LJ as [livejournal.com profile] riba_rambles. From there, you can see the blogs that she tends to read, like Atrios, Talking Points Memo, and the like.

Thanks. I have Riba Rambles (as well as piranha's blog and others) in a syndicated feed. I'll have to check out the others.

I went a little overboard with my response, which is here in my own journal (http://www.livejournal.com/users/rivka/123952.html). Happy hunting!

I enjoy Neil Gaiman's blog, though that's probably not interesting to you if you haven't read him. Anyhoo, he's at http://www.neilgaiman.com/journal/journal.asp (http://www.neilgaiman.com/journal/journal.asp)
