The kid is home with my mom. He: apologized; agreed to get help and to respect the boundaries; gave the dog a bath; called me; let the police know he is safe and sound.

Now he's playing with his dog, my mom's cooking them breakfast, and I get to sit here and dislodge my heart from my throat.
