Today is her day

She is a mass of contradictions
She is establishment and subversion
She is fun and serious
and an interesting, interested wombat of a woman
whose passion inspires me, whose fervor
is surprisingly gentle, whose love stories
I page through surreptitiously at work,
ready to offer up an excuse to my boss
because I cannot not read them
