Nov. 6th, 2003 07:23 am- In the middle of
therealjae's new story. Good stuff. - Probably going to leave work early, go to the DMV, and then go write for hours and hours. It's that kind of day, cold and melancholy, where the only thing that will help is solitude, quiet, and lots of words.
porcinea fucking rocks. I got use of an iBook the other day, with OSX, and she helped me figure out how to make the text editor, which I like, count my words. Now I'm hooked on the Unix terminal, and I'm going to stop at the library on the way home and get a book to teach myself more about it. I even did a bunch of "man" commands! (My terminology probably sucks; I'm new at this.) What I'd love is to eventually be running Unix or linux, with gnus as my newsreader (*waves* to
pleonastic), because as dense as I can be about some tech things, I am a slave to configurability and learning new things.- Speaking of learning new things, I have the potential for new work as a tech writer slash office helper for
someotherguy's employer, who happens also to be his brother, and in order to help myself with that, I'm teaching myself Miva Script, the scripting language they work in. I like it. And
someotherguy is going to help me work on a project (a better version of the apc11 reg form) to use the stuff I'm learning. I so totally adore geeks. - There is so much in this world I want to learn, to do, and today I feel like I don't have the energy to do all of it, but I have the willingness and ability to do a good chunk of it, and that makes me happy.
- Need to do some of this stuff and then retire to bed with a comforter, a laptop, and a mug of tea. It's winter outside, and I need to cocoon.

Date: 2003-11-06 09:37 am (UTC)Oh, my poor brain is still playing word tricks on me - the first time I read this I thought it said "I have the potential for new work as a tech slash writer ..."
Which brought to mind all *sorts* of alarming images ...
Coccooning is a goodness. Enjoy!

Oh. Never mind.
